The Rules of Golf – Etiquette Part 1

When teaching my students, I try to be very visual regarding the rules of golf. A few years ago, I created a rules seminar with the help of the junior golfers at our club. Here are a few rules explained with the help of the junior members.

Etiquette (Part 1)

#1: Where should you stand when a player is hitting the ball?

Dont stand in the player’s line of vision or to close to the player so is not to disturb the players focus and concentration.

Be respectfull and keep your distance when other players are playing their shots.

#2: How far away should the group in front of you be before you attempt to hit your shot?

Always make sure that the closest person in the group in front of you is beyond the range of your next shot.

#3 What word is commonly used in golf to warn of the possibility of being hit by an errant golf ball?

If you hit a ball toward an adjoining fairway or toward someone, you should yell “FORE”.

If your hear “FORE”, attemp to shield yourself by ducking and covering your head with your hands and arms.—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–
